Description of Accident: One person has died and another has been injured as a result of a collision between a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer and a 2018 Nissan sedan on US 17 near Okeetee Road in Jasper County, South Carolina on March 13. The accident happened in the Switzerland community outside of Ridgeland around 4:28 pm. The tractor-trailer was driving south on Highway 17, while the Nissan sedan was driving north on the same road at the time of the collision. The Jasper County Coroner pronounced the deceased individual, a 43-year-old from Virginia, dead at the scene on Wednesday. The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident.
