Connor’s Approach When Meeting a Client

I want my clients to feel comfortable with me. I want them to fully understand where they currently stand and where things are headed with their case. When a client comes to me, they are experiencing one of the most difficult experiences of their life, and everything is completely new to them. It’s my job to educate them on the law, what to expect, and to make sure they know that I’m going to be by their side every step of the way.

What Inspired You to Become an Attorney?

My dad is an attorney. So, most folks probably think that’s why I became an attorney, but that’s not entirely the case. I originally had my sights set on the medical field because of my desire to help people. However, a summer internship with the South Carolina Attorney General’s office changed my trajectory completely. During the internship, I spent my time organizing files and piecing together the details of old cases. What may seem like a dry and arduous task to some, was meaningful work to me. I enjoyed digging into the cases, acting as an investigator, and putting the pieces of the puzzle together. That experience drove me to pursue a career in law.

Taking Lessons from the Insurance Company to Better Serve Clients

When I began my legal career, I worked for ‘the other side’ as a defense attorney in personal injury and construction litigation cases. While I learned an immense amount during that time, I wasn’t fulfilling my desire to make a difference in the lives of other people. However, the time I spent working as an insurance defense attorney allows me to see my client’s case from that perspective. I understand what the defense is looking for and how they value different cases. I use that to my client’s advantage.

Connor’s Background and Education

Connor grew up in the Midlands. He stayed local to attend the University of South Carolina, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He continued his studies at the University of South Carolina School of Law, earning his Juris Doctorate. During his time at the Joseph F. Rice School of Law, he served as a Research Editor for the South Carolina Journal of International Law and Business. After graduation, he remained in Columbia for a few more years before moving to the Lowcountry.

Before joining Joye Law Firm, Connor worked as a defense attorney for multiple law firms in South Carolina, representing the interests of corporations and their insurance providers. He has extensive experience handling claims related to personal injury and construction litigation. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, Charleston County Bar Association, and the CCBA Young Lawyers Division.

Connor currently lives in Charleston with his fiancée and their French Bulldog, Arnold. He loves getting outdoors and surfing the waters of the Lowcountry. Connor is close with his immediate family and cherishes their annual ski trips, where he enjoys testing his balance on the slopes. A big fan of simulator racing, Connor finds it offers the thrill of the road without the potential hazards he’s all too familiar with in his day job.
