Joye Law Firm is proud to announce Attorney Sydney Lynn’s installation as President of the South Carolina Association for Justice (SCAJ) for the 2024-2025 term. Lynn’s new role was officially announced at SCAJ’s Annual Convention held the first weekend of August in Hilton Head, S.C., marking a significant milestone in Lynn’s distinguished legal career.
Attorney Sydney Lynn’s Impressive Resume
Attorney Lynn has been a dedicated member of Joye Law Firm for over ten years and had the distinct honor of opening our Columbia office in early 2016. She concentrates her practice on advocating for personal injury victims and workers’ compensation claimants, tirelessly pursuing justice for those who have been injured due to negligence. Sydney’s commitment to her clients is evident in her relentless efforts to ensure they receive the compensation they deserve and her dedication to providing compassionate, personalized legal guidance throughout the process.
From a young age, Lynn was called to a career where she could serve others, though it was a series of unrelated decisions that led her to become an attorney. Sydney received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina at Aiken and her Juris Doctorate from the Charleston School of Law. After law school, she initially practiced at a small plaintiff’s firm where she gained invaluable practical experience in case development, deposition practice, litigation, and the workers’ compensation system.
In 2014, she joined Joye Law Firm’s Myrtle Beach office where she continued to hone her skills as a plaintiff’s lawyer. Through these experiences, she learned the importance of integrity and always making decisions that are right for her clients.
Among her honors and awards, Attorney Lynn has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2016 and recognized as a Super Lawyers’ Rising Star from 2014 to 2018. She has maintained a 10.0 Avvo rating from 2017 to the present and received Avvo’s Client’s Choice Award in 2019.
Her professional memberships include the Brain Injury Association of South Carolina (2015 to present), Injured Workers’ Advocates (2013 to present), and the South Carolina Bar Association (2008 to present). She has served on the Board of Governors for the South Carolina Association for Justice from 2015 to the present, culminating in her current role as President.
“Our civil justice system is under attack by well-funded groups who want to increase profits on the backs of innocent victims. At the end of the day, the policy debate we face is about accountability. We simply cannot allow people or companies with deep pockets to avoid responsibility when their reckless behaviors harm others. My dedication to SCAJ and its mission spans nearly a decade, and I am honored to now serve in this leadership capacity” says Lynn.
Striking a Balance Between Professional and Personal Success
Sydney’s exceptional legal skills are evident in her successful case outcomes. Notably, she secured a $500,000 jury verdict alongside Joye Law Firm Attorney Milt Stratos for a South Carolina woman after a tractor-trailer t-boned her, causing multiple injuries. In another recent case, she skillfully represented a client’s case, clearly establishing the facts, liability, and damages. This resulted in a $1.35 million settlement for a motorcyclist who suffered critical injuries at the hands of a negligent driver after persuading all three insurance carriers to fully tender their policies.
Despite her demanding career, Lynn is also a loving and devoted mother to two boys. Her ability to balance her professional responsibilities with her role as a mother is a testament to her remarkable dedication and strength.
