The AAA Carolinas Foundation for Traffic Safety has named Easley an Outstanding Traffic Safe Community for 2012. Easley is one of 15 communities in South Carolina to be honored

The foundation judges towns on the number of accidents and police officers for their population size and the ways police departments address traffic safety. Easley, with a population of about 20,058, was among five towns that were honored in the category of towns with populations of 10,000 to 30,000.

Easley is an active participant in the Buckle Up South Carolina campaign. The town also focuses on alcohol and speed enforcement. Removing impaired drivers from Easley’s roads is a top priority.

The Easley Police Department handled 1,094 car accidents in 2012. There are approximately 45 law enforcement personnel assigned to Easley. Twenty-nine uniformed officers patrol Easley’s roads and streets.
