Joye Law Firm is proud to announce that Joye Law Firm Partner and Head of our Litigation Department, Mark Joye, has been installed as the President of the Charleston County Bar Association (CCBA) for the 2024-2025 term. The installation ceremony, held on February 22 at the Francis Marion Hotel, marked a significant moment in Mark Joye’s illustrious legal career.
Upcoming Initiatives as CCBA President
In his role as the Charleston County Bar Association President, Mark Joye aims to foster reconnection and professional growth among its members. He plans to organize in-person social events, charitable projects, and continuing education seminars.
Mark is particularly keen on engaging both younger and more experienced attorneys, recognizing their vital contributions to the legal community. During his address to the CCBA Annual Meeting, he made the following remarks on collaboration, “We need to do more to look out for our fellow lawyers. In our profession, we are supposed to be problem solvers. As such, it can be tough recognizing when we, ourselves, need help. With 2,200 bar members, if you see a fellow bar member and they need help, do the right thing and point them in the direction to get them some help. Our Bar is only as good as what our members do for one another.”
He also called for courteous treatment of opposing counsel, “You will have a case where you have a strong position, but later on you will be the one who has the weak position. And how you treated the lawyer on the other side of the case when you had a strong position is going to get turned around on you when you for certain have the weaker position. I want to impress that you can be a zealous advocate for your client, and you can still be civil and courteous to the person on the other side of the case. And that pays off in dividends.”
