FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded by Dean Kamen in 1989. The objective of the program is to inspire youth to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) while building other life skills like communication, Cooperation, and Decision making.
As a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team, they intricately design, build, program, and troubleshoot a 120+ lb. robot, all in SIX WEEKS! In those six weeks before their first regional competition, team members develop soft-skills and technical knowledge through cooperative tasks, group communication, and in order to achieve a deadline.
