Joye Law Firm is proud to support the Troop Appreciation Fishing Derby. The event welcomed wounded warriors for a day of fishing at Lake Murray Sail Club on June 13th, 2024. Twenty-one guided boats took 50-60 wounded warriors from all military branches on a memorable fishing expedition. Boats set sail bright and early at 6:30 AM for a day of fishing, fun, and fellowship.
This meaningful event was sparked by a conversation between Captain Mike Glover, a Lake Murray fishing guide, and a group of Army officers during a guided fishing trip. Since the inaugural Derby in 2012, the event has remained true to its aim to honor our veterans.
Joye Law Firm was introduced to this event by one of Managing Partner Ken Harrell’s clients. The client, a Marine Corp veteran, whom Ken represented in a Camp Lejeune contaminated water case, is one of the event’s organizers. This marked our second year of participation, and we are proud to provide a monetary donation as well as supplies for the participating veterans. This year Attorney Brian Holmes from our Columbia office joined the festivities to show our support.
