Description of Accident: An auto-pedestrian collision on North Highway 52 at 10:09 p.m. tragically claimed the life of a 40-year-old Saint Stephen resident. The victim was walking east on U.S. Highway 52 near Peru Road when he was struck by the driver of a 2017 Nissan sedan, traveling in the same direction. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is now under investigation by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Emergency services, including Berkeley County EMS and North Berkeley Fire & Rescue, responded to the scene. The driver of the Nissan sedan, the sole occupant, was unharmed in the crash.
