Description of Accident: A Fort Mill Elementary School crossing guard tragically died in a traffic collision on March 21. The 61-year-old Fort Mill resident was struck while working at the school entrance on Springfield Parkway around 3 p.m. Emergency services transported him to Piedmont Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Crisis counselors will continue to be available for students and staff coping with the loss of the crossing guard. The investigation is ongoing.
