Description of Accident: A 57-year-old North Myrtle Beach resident died attempting to cross Highway 17 on her bike. Despite having the green light and being in the proper lane, she was struck by an 80-year-old driver from Atlantic Beach, who cited traffic and vehicle blind spots. The driver received a citation for failure to yield and was deemed at fault for the collision. Following the crash, the cyclist was treated for multiple injuries at Grand Strand Medical Center. Sadly, she succumbed to multiple traumatic injuries later that day.
