Description of Accident: A crash on North Main Street claimed the life of a 34-year-old pregnant mother in Columbia and hospitalized two others. A Columbia police officer was responding to a shots fired call. While on his way to the scene, the officer was involved in a crash with the mother and the driver of a silver van. Everyone involved was taken to the hospital, where the mother tragically died from her injuries. The officer underwent surgery for a serious leg injury sustained in the crash.
