Description of Accident: A tragic incident early Thursday morning led to the death of a 55-year-old man struck by a Norfolk-Southern freight train near the 6th Street crossing. Train personnel reported spotting the man lying on the tracks approximately 50 yards north of the crossing. Despite repeated warning horn signals, the man did not move from the tracks. The train, which consisted of three engines and 37 cars, was en route to Atlanta, Georgia, at the time of the collision.
