Description of Accident: A fatal accident occurred just after 2 PM on I-26 near mile marker 55 westbound, involving a tractor-trailer, a disabled vehicle, and a pedestrian. A 2022 Kenworth tractor-trailer was traveling westbound when it veered off the right side of the road, striking a 2022 Ford pickup truck and a pedestrian who was changing a tire in the emergency lane. After the impact, the tractor-trailer collided with a guardrail and traveled down an embankment, where it caught fire.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford pickup truck was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
