Description of Accident: Two accidents only minutes apart claimed the lives of two people on Interstate 85 near the North Carolina/South Carolina state line, around 45 miles southwest of Charlotte. A 56-year-old woman from Sullivan’s Island driving an SUV on Interstate 85 struck a retaining wall and veered into the path of a tractor-trailer around 4:35 pm. Just five minutes later a 25-year-old Charlotte man driving a box truck slowing for the accident was hit by a tractor-trailer and dragged several hundred feet. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, their passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
