Description of Accident: A fatal wrong-way collision early Monday morning on Highway 17-Alternate claimed the lives of two women. The crash occurred when a 36-year-old woman, driving a 2013 Buick Enclave northbound in the southbound lanes, collided head-on with a 2018 Volkswagen driven by a 28-year-old woman. A 2015 GMC SUV, also traveling south, then struck the Volkswagen from behind. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but both the 28-year-old Volkswagen driver and the 36-year-old Buick driver succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the GMC SUV was not reported injured.
